Brick Making
Brick making is only one of the ingenious ideas Owendo has come up with to further the work of the kingdom of God. Young men seeking employment gather and work together to form the precious cubes from the clay of the region. They are then fire baked in homemade ovens for many days until ready for the application process. The new construction brings much needed progress in the form of a new school or perhaps even a new church. Along with that construction new hope 'sparks' in the lives of those that have participated in the plan to improve the community as a whole. They see that by joining forces and working together, much can be attained; many can benefit from this joint effort. Owendo teaches "how to fish" instead of "handing out fish" to be consumed for a temporary satisfaction. Using these time tested methods life lessons are learned that will carry far beyond the experience of one meal. These lessons help to take away the age old enemy called ignorance and in its place instill knowledge and confidence.
